BIOGRAPHY
Since their humble beginnings in
the small coastal town of Pärnu, Estonia, The Boondocks have gone on to make a
name for themselves with a catalogue that includes five acclaimed albums.
Influenced by British guitar pop, post-punk and early R&B, The Boondocks
are a multi-layered and nuanced affair.
Theirs is a gritty, hard hitting, guitar-oriented rock’n’roll sound with all its rough and rebellious connotations projected against the backdrop of their polished image, pop melodies, biting wit, and laid back grooves.
The Boondocks show that there is
a certain charm in finding sounds and ideas associated with the decades before
our own. “Silver Buzz,” released in March 2025, is their most ambitious and
expansive album to date, bringing together a richer and more inventive sound
than before. On this new musical journey, travelling back in time while
retaining modern sonics, they are joined for the first time by an
orchestra, influenced by the ensemble’s collective interest in films and film
music.

DISCOGRAPHY
_ "USB" (2014)"USB," the band's debut, serves as a vibrant tapestry woven from the threads of 1990s indie rock, grunge, and modern blues. While echoing the reverence for their musical forerunners, it stands as a genuine tribute. "USB" unfolds like an intricate musical puzzle, where each twist reveals a fragment of intertextuality, a sharp riff, or a resonant melody that both recalls and redefines familiar sounds. The result is a surprisingly sophisticated and eclectic blend, a testament to the band's youthful ingenuity.
_ "Thriller" (2016)
"Thriller," their first album as a quartet, delivers on its namesake with palpable tension, driving rhythms, and haunting melodies. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Queens of the Stone Age, Last Shadow Puppets, and Iggy Pop, this sophomore effort delves into a deeper, more textured sonic landscape, exploring themes of paranoia and fragmented realities.
_ "How to Build a Love Bomb" (2018)
"How to Build a Love Bomb" resonates with the spirit of 1960s rock, a nostalgic echo felt both in its songwriting and sonic texture. The album's title itself evokes the era's duality, referencing both the love revolution and the Cold War's looming threat. More profoundly, "How to Build a Love Bomb" poses a critical question: how to foster meaningful connections in a world besieged by "gravity" and literal bombs. This introspective work earned the band Album of the Year honors from Estonia's Raadio 2.
_ "Soup Can Pop Band" (2021)
Released on September 24th, 2021, "Soup Can Pop Band," the band's fourth album, presents a passive-aggressive critique of contemporary society and politics, delivered through a rich homage to punk's diverse lineage. As their mixing engineer José Diogo Neves observed, it "sounds like David Bowie met The Ramones backstage at a Clash gig." This potent blend of influences secured the band the Rock Album of the Year award at the 2022 Estonian Music Awards.
_ "Silver Buzz" (2025)
"Silver Buzz," released in March 2025, marks the band's most ambitious and expansive sonic exploration to date. Weaving together a richer and more inventive soundscape, it journeys through time while maintaining a contemporary edge. For this musical odyssey, the band collaborates with an orchestra for the first time, reflecting their collective passion for cinema and film scores.
